How to keep knitwear alive for a decade
Wash less, dry flat, de-pill yearly. The care sheet we ship with every order, in full.
Knitwear doesn't wear out from wearing. It wears out from washing. Most sweaters that die young are killed in a machine drum, not on a body.
The short version
Air after each wear — twenty minutes on a flat surface resets the fibres. Wash when it smells or stains, not on a schedule. Fold, never hang; hangers stretch shoulders into ramps.
When you do wash
Cold water, wool cycle, mesh bag, wool detergent. Reshape while damp, dry flat away from radiators and sun. Never tumble dry — heat is the executioner here.
Once a year
De-pill with a cashmere comb or a cheap fabric shaver. Pills are loose fibres, not damage; removing them restores the surface entirely. Store folded with cedar, not mothballs.
Follow that and a good sweater outlasts the trend cycle that bought it — which is the entire point of buying well once.
